Umbrian 1600 was characterised by the building of mills with dovecot towers, enriched with merlons and friezes typical of the ancient landed holdings. In the locality of Vaglie-Molinaccio, one of the last mills takes the name of “Molinaccio Penna Nera”. This structure was abandoned after the II World War and by then it started its structural decadence, arriving close to 2000 completely damaged. The actual owner fall in love with it and he decided to restore it totally, giving it life again. In 2001 the Region of Umbria and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage put the mill in the list of national heritage to protect because its great value inserting a public obligation. The mill was rebuilt as monumental complex and historical residence. The conservative restoration was carried out by one of the leading architect in the national survey who has planned many structures in the world, from Mexico to Canada, from East Europe to Feance, from Italy to Vatican City. The architect Molfetta restored the old openings for pigeons and he recovered completely the merlon that surrounds the top of the tower. He created the avenue leading at the back of the monumental complex to give to the visitor the impression to arrive in an anonymous place for then finding in front of the magnificent façade. The extraordinary position allows to visit the center of Italy easily: Todi 10 km Spoleto, Terni, San Gemini, Avigliano around 30 km Perugia 50 km Assisi 70 km Roma 120 km Firenze 200km The mill is composed by 4 double room, 3 bathrooms, 2 entrances, 1 anteroom, an ancient vault in stone and a big living room (75 square metres) with kitchen, 1 external covered patio of 90 square metres, a large square of 3000 square metres, a garden of 4000 square metres and a manège for horses of about 3000 square metres. Moreover the manège has horses to ride that can be reserved during the day for an additional paltry price.
