Description:

Poggio al Palio is the ancient farm Troscino, an exclusive Holiday Home close to Siena in the beautiful countryside of Val di Merse Natural Park, where there are 4 private apartments and 2 romantic cottages, only. If you are looking for a pleasant and elegant place, not too far from the sea yet close to the most important city of Tuscany, this is the best place for you! We are situated on the summit of a hill surrounded by olive trees and a wooded area, consequently we have a beautiful view on the country side and an excellent supply of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
In the heart of the main house we have some apartments (named Taurus, Fallow Deer, Kite and Leo) divided in two separate properties: all are spacious, elegant and comfortable with nice furniture, new but rustic like Tuscany’s way! Surrounding the property is a big garden where you can relax, read a book and so on and it is so large and peaceful that usually no one have any problem with the others.... there is also a double barbecue where you could cook our typical and very famous charcoal grilled steak named “Fiorentina” and some more covered terrace for your breakfast, lunch or evening meal.
We also have two lovely small villas (Ibis and Goose) which are in the heart of the wood surrounded by our olive tree, a little bit far from the main building. These Cottages are really perfect and romantic for a couple of people who desire to be quiet alone with private gazebo, barbecue and parking outside.
Kitchens are completely equipped including refrigerator with freezer, oven, dishwasher (not for the cottages), toaster, and a moka and american coffee maker, have open-plan living room with sofas and tv satellite and most with fireplace, too. The bathrooms have shower, wc, hairdryer and sometimes washing machine (or there is a free laundry in common).
We have recently finished two new panoramic pools with salt water inside, which will be open from 24th of April till 15th of October. There will be one little for children and a larger one for adults only with sun-bed and umbrella where you can relax.
We are well situated for many of the important cities, towns and attractions of the area: Siena, San Galgano Abbey or Petriolo’s thermal water (twenty minutes), Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza and San Quirico d’Orcia (less than one hour), San Gimignano, Maremma country and the sea coast are also within easy reach (one hour). In one hour and half you can be in Florence, Pisa or Arezzo because we are centrally situated in the amazing Principality of Tuscany!

- From North:
when you arrive to Florence from the autostrada A1 you have to exit at ”Firenze-Certosa” and take on your right the ”superstrada Firenze-Siena-Grosseto” (about 65km).
At Siena you’ll prosiguos on the directions for Grosseto so you’ll take the SS 223-E78 .

- From South:
ever on the Autostrada A1 (directions from Rome) there is an exit named ”Val di Chiana”, take it! After you have to follow the directions for Siena. This is the S.P. 327 Siena-Perugia (about 50km).
At Siena you’ll prosiguos and follow the directions for Grosseto so you’ll take the SS 223-E78.

- From Siena (just on the highway SS 223-E78):
when you are in the area around Siena the way became the same from both directions that you have used before.
Follow the sign for Grosseto, after about 18 km far from Siena (south direction), on your left you’ll find a service gas station named ”AGIP - Doccio” (there is a Bar and a little Restaurant where you can ask about me because they know where I live, if you have any problem we can meet here), keep on straight ahead and pass the intersection for ”Monticiano - San Lorenzo a Merse” (you’ll never go to Monticiano, we remain near to the SS 223!).
After about 800 meters you will see a sign of Poggio al Palio on your right (Poggio al Palio -) 350mt - right).
Take this gravel road up the hill about a km. Towards the gate of the property and finally ring me so I can open the gate for you!
